Ph.D. Student Amirali Najafi Wins MECHS Presentation Prize

Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. student Amirali Najafi earned first place in the Multihazard Engineering Collaboratory on Hybrid Simulation (MECHS) 3-Minute Thesis video competition, Presentation category. The competition was open to graduate and undergraduate students around the world, with each entry focused on an aspect of hybrid simulation. Najafi’s presentation was titled “Multi-Axial Real-Time Hybrid Simulation, an experimental technique for nonlinear dynamic testing of structures.”

MECHS is a Research Coordination Network funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) focused on broadening the community of researchers that are engaged in hybrid simulation projects, and aiming to foster new research initiatives to tackle emerging scientific challenges. The Network is part of the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure, an NSF-funded distributed, multi-user, national facility that provides the natural hazards engineering community with state-of-the-art research infrastructure.
