Yan receives ASME Haythornthwaite Foundation Research Initiation Award

 

Assistant Professor Jinhui Yan has received the 2018 Haythornthwaite Foundation Research Initiation Award from American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Selected by the executive committee of the Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) of ASME, the award is bestowed in recognition of excellence in theoretical and applied mechanics research. An award of $20,000 will be used by Prof. Yan in support of his research projects. The award was presented at the AMD Banquet at ASME’s International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition in Pittsburgh on November 13, 2018.

Jinhui Yan joined Illinois in Fall 2018. Professor Yan conducts research in the areas of computational mechanics and its broad applications in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing. He earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. from UCSD, Peking University and Wuhan University, respectively.
